Filter separators are widely used in natural gas, chemical, petrochemical, refineries and land fill gas processing plants. The removal of solid and liquid contaminants is essential to protect equipment such as gas engines, turbines, compressors, contact towers and metering instrumentation from fine mists or particles that can lead to corrosion or fouling. The filter separator can also recover liquid products used in the processing of gas such as ammonia.


The Feature Tec filter separators can be mounted horizontally or vertically depending on size requirements.

The housing material can be stainless steel or carbon steel with corrosion allowance.

Separation efficiency of 99-99.5% of liquid 5 microns or larger and solid particles of 3 microns or larger

Filter separator housings are designed in accordance with ASME VIII Div. 1 and ASME U stamped vessels are available upon request.


Filter Separator function

The filter separator contains three stages of separation. The gas enters the housing into a knockout stage where large liquid slugs are removed from the main gas stream by gravity. Smaller droplets are removed by centrifugal forces forcing the droplets to impinge upon the housing and drain off. Any liquid particles, solid particles or mist still being carried by the gas stream then enter the second stage of separation, which is a series of filter cartridges or 'candles' where droplets are coalesced into larger droplets. The third stage of separation is a set of vane packs or mesh pad where the coalesced liquid droplets (now larger than 5 micron) will be collected by the vane packs/mesh pad and removed from the gas stream. A quick opening lid can be installed for easy and fast access to filter elements.
